About The Black River Group
The Black River Group was founded in 2008 by Bill Harmer and Elizabeth Goldman based on shared ideals of the unlimited potential libraries have to transform themselves and their communities. Working together at Chelsea District Library in Michigan from 2006-2008, Bill and Elizabeth turned many of their ideas into successful practice, earning that library the designation "Best Small Library in America" by Library Journal and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in 2008.
The principals bring more than 15 years of experience in public libraries, numerous speaking engagements, and a proven track record of innovative, unexpected programming for all ages.
